Ok, here's some protocols to evaluate:

IPv4
TCP
UDP
NAT

IPv6

FTP
HTTPv1.1 (RFC 2616)
WebDAV (RFC 2518)

SIP

SMTP
ESMTP
POP3
IMAP4

telnet
ssh

RPC (RFC1050, RFC1831)

LDAPv3 (RFC 2251 etc)

DSML (at oasis-open.org)

DSP, DISP, DOP (ITU X.519 etc)

OCSP (RFC 2560)

Some data and file formats:

XML
XML-Schema
XSL

MIME

CSV

EPS
HTML
XHTML
ODF
OOXML
PDF
PDF/A
PDF/X
RDF
RTF

GIF
JPEG
PNG
SVG
TIFF

MPEG-1
MP3
MPEG-2
MPEG-4
OGG Theora
OGG Vorbis
QT
WAV
WMV/A

Let's try to figure out which of these should be "strongly
discouraged", which "discouraged", which considered "acceptable",
which "recommended", and which "strongly recommended".

Of course we don't have to discuss them all at once. (In fact,
addressing them one-at-a-time is likely to me more productive!)

So, please feel free to pick any one that you'd like to comment
on, mentioning the name of the protocol or data format in the
subject line, and make and explain a suggestion for what its
OpenISO.org rating should be...

Greetings,
Norbert.
