I must say that I as a user am quite happy with ISO/IEC 14882 (even the
recent versions). Something I do find terrible is ISO/IEC 9899:1999, at
least partially. There are some good enhancements and there are some
which just suck and show that people wanted to make C a language it
wasn't. Well, whatever.
C++ just is a highly complex language, which appears to be reflected in
the standard you are referring to. But I appreciate the standard that
was issued and I am quite confident that it will finally stop C++'s trend
to keep evolving in incompatible ways (at least on the base).
BTW, someone should have a look at ISO/IEC 11801, which, in my opinion,
also deserves pure ratification as it is a good standard. The only
tuning it could need is towards Category 6 but that doesn't seem
necessary as such to me.
