Hi!

I am posting this as a non-reply as I entered the mailinglist after the
commented text was sent, and only read it in the archive at
http://openiso.org/pipermail/discuss/2007-September/000025.html

The mail thread talks about finding some free software to handle online,
collaborative editing of standards in a more organized manner than a wiki.

It so happens that I wrote a piece of software called DemoWave about a
year ago that allows collaborative editing of a structured text with
votation on individual changes. It also includes integration with a
discussion forum (FUDforum) for discussions on individual changes.

Properties of the editing environment:
* A document is made up of paragraphs.
* Any paragraph can have child paragraphs (any number levels).
* A paragraph has a text and/or a heading.
* A change can insert paragraphs before or after any given existing
paragraph, replace or delete any paragraph.

Properties of the voting system:
* If all or very many eligible voters agree, a descission is taken
swiftly by the system.
* If few eligigble voters vote, or if there is lots of disagreement, the
descission is delayed.
* A "snowball-effect" counter-acts "spamming" of the system.

I have set up a demo-site for this software at
http://demo.freecode.no/DemoWave/
    Use any of these usernames, with the same password as username.
Please do not change the password of them (as I haven't disabled the
change-password dialog, if it turns out to be a problem, I will).

A more detailed explanation of the voting system and how votes are
counted is included in the documentation at
http://demo.freecode.no/DemoWave/help/index.en.html

The software is downloadable from http://home.gna.org/demowave/

The license is GNU GPL.

Best regards,
Egil Möller
