Thank you so much for working on this and coming up with these
suggestions!

However I think they're too close to ISO's existing trademarks.
(I can't say whether adopting one of them as logo is legally
ok or not, but my feeling is that any allusions to a logo of
an organization that we might be directly or indirectly
competing with for mindshare should be avoided.)  In addition,
I think that we'd need permission from Open Source Initiative
if we want to adopt one of the two suggestions on the left;
maybe it would be ok with them, but I'd prefer to avoid having
to ask :-)

How about the following idea: an open box (to symbolize openness)
with a "@" on it (to symbolize information technology), e.g. as
follows (display in monospaced font)?
