[OpenISO] OOXML - what now?

According to media reports, Microsoft is planning the following:
"not implement the final ISO version of OOXML until Office 14
ships at an unstated date in the future."

http://www.sdtimes.com/content/article.aspx?ArticleID=32228

I've asked a contact at Microsoft whether that is correct.

If yes, I think that means that the ISO OOXML standard is
going to be practically irrelevant for the foreseeable future
and quite possibly forever (who would honestly expect
Microsoft's "Office 14" product to be designed around the
principle of containing no innovations beyond what is
contained in today's ISO OOXML standard which will by then be
several years old?)

What does this mean for OpenISO.org?

I tend to think that it means that we should do a three-way
comparitive analysis comparing
a) the most recently published version of the ODF spec
b) the most recently published version of the OOXML spec that
has been reviewed by the international standardization
community and which incorporates the resulting technical
   corrections
c) the version of the OOXML spec that Microsoft through their
actions and announcements is encouraging partner companies to
   code against

Where b) and c) differ, "lack of vendor support" is of course
going to be included as a major point of criticism in the
OpenISO.org Problem Report for b).

Greetings,
Norbert
